I agree VB is (or was, last time I used it) useful for quick mockups or proof of concepts.. the trouble was, those tended to very quickly become 'proper' applications, and then you ended up chasing your tail trying to find some obscure bug due to some obscure interaction of components that wasn't being fully exposed by VB.
Welcome to my world when it comes to my brother's applications ;D

I haven't used the new .NET variants though, aside from a quick dabble in C#, so I can't really comment on those. I just have an enduring hatred of it from my VB6 days.
They are much more consistent, but more limited at the same time (as in a PITA to go outside the APIs - though no bad thing in these virtualisation days)

I do quite like Perl..
I'm sure the YaBB development team would love to hear from you, esp if you are good with database programming as well ;)

You're right though, I wouldn't try writing a Windows application in assembler, that would be tantamount to suicide  :)
Every man has to do it just once. Just a simple Hello World. Just so they can say they have ;D

Resistors over 1M are not that common.

However, I always have a stock if you get short

I think my views on the town, and those that live there are well known here ::)

I wonder if any soon-to-be-ex-Members of OOF live there :P

I'm normally more organised, so don't get in this situation.  The trouble was, I was convinced I had some, so didn't bother ordering any when I had time...

Nope, just your fault. Stop trying to share the blame with a defenceless cripple.

An Administrator and co-founder of the site ranting that anyone from Banbury is plain stupid due to a tiny gene pool...  ...if that doesn't piss them off...   :-[

Do you have an independent electrical store within reasonable distance? Your'e more likely to speak to a real person who can help.

This is why i avoid PC World like the plague. You go in to buy something simple like inks & they insist you need this lead, that adaptor & you must sign up for the latest spyware protecter thing as you really need it. Bollix do i!

They are greedy so & so's who feed on the gullible & as folk learn they'll give them a swerve & use an independant shop as i've learned to do. Such commercial practices are relativly short lived...

   ...Cheats never prosper.
