Agreed.I just hope those that are making these comments never have to face the samesituation with their daughter (or son).
Theres a lot of it about these days, and it can easiy happen to any family.
The fact that she was famous doesnt change a thing, apart from young famous people are like a magnet for drug dealing scum, who prey on them when they are young, vulnerable and lacking in the necassary life experience to see through these parasites.
Gas the dealers.

Tragic. I never liked most of her music but as so rightly pointed out, she is someones daughter/relative. Rest in peace.

It is indeed a tragedy. Not just for her family, but for the many youngsters who enjoy her music. 27 is far too young to leave.  :(

I have no experience of crack cocaine but know it to be highly addictive & equally destructive. I spent my teens/early 20's enjoying the drug scene, grass/resin, powders & pills etc. Never jabbed anything but 3 or 4 times in a week i "chased" heroin. It was great but i soon realized i was really looking forward to the next one more than anything else so nipped in the bud there & then & never again. Totally drug free for donkeys years now & don't miss them a bit. Point is i've been there. Those who hav'nt (which is no bad thing) should'nt be too harsh on her. I've seen her Dad whose a cabbie so an every day bloke on previous interviews & feel for him.

Her music was'nt to my taste but her voice & style were unique unlike much of the manufactured pap that passes for music today.

Yes she was a silly girl surrounded by idiots who did'nt warrant thier own existance. This once again goes to show drugs are'nt selective, take no prisoners & don't recognize class or wealth.

Where else can a millionaire be in the gutter? :'(

Such comparisons are odious.

I am sad at the loss of life in Norway. I am sad that Amy Winehouse has lost her life. Why compare the two?  :-?

Yeah well life is precious, and not to be wasted away. Unfortunately as we all know, many people either get a shit shot at life or not one at all. Nothing against her, although I didn't like her music, it's ridiculous the amount of news coverage it's getting. Police standing in the street on their airwave mobiles for the cameras benefit. What's all that about? I bet it'd be a bit different if it was a jobless unknown from a no-town. She's an intelligent person but has wasted the most important thing she's had, the fact she's someones daughter is irrelevant. I reserve my sympathy and compassion for people who deserve it.

I agree with everything you say except the fact she is some one's daughter is irelevant.

  Try telling her Dad that.

My family is irrelevant also, but no one in my family would become addicted to drugs. They're not stupid enough.

We're all someones daughter or son. It changes nothing. It doesn't make it any less bad that she's wasted her life and body. But it's her waste. That's not me being nasty, that's just the way it is. There are countless people past and present who haven't been born with the things she, and many of us take for granted.

The only ones I feel sorry for are her family. I'm not a hypocrite, I didn't like her when she was alive and I'm not gonna say I like her now. She was a high profile figure that youngsters looked up to. She was a disgrace to her profession.

I hope you never have to live to regret those words Geoff. Addiction is nothing whatsoever to do with stupidity, there have been very many clever people - geniuses even, who have succumbed to addiction. Its almost always a combination of factors and circumstances which produce an addict - whether the addiction is to drugs, alcohol, nicotine, gambling, or anything else - it always starts with someone with a particular vulnerability being in the wrong place at the wrong time. ;)
