Feeling a little better now.
« on: 24 July 2011, 21:31:53 »

Finally said goodbye to Mum on friday @ Findon Valley near Worthing. Just family & a few loved ones present as she did'nt want a fuss. I sat between my grown up son Scott & my long term (16 years) part time horsey girlfriend Mel who would do anything for me & i adore. The service was short & tasteful. Afterwards a convoy of cars drove to a favourite walk of Mum's just off the Washington roundabout & we & dogs walked said walk which cleared our heads no end. Dad had booked Mum's favourite Thai restaurant in Storrington for the afternoon where many others i had'nt seen for years were waiting. The food was delightful, especially the breaded king prawns & satay dip. I did'nt drink....no really!.. as i had to drive my sister Sarah to Pulborough Stn. to catch the train to Norfolk. As Dad she too is a vet & her car was overdue a garage visit. Most of us went back to the house in West Chiltington but Dad went with some of his old vetinary mates to a jazz concert in Petworth, then onto the 5 bells at the end of the lane for lasties. Not bad for an 81 year old!!! On Saturday Dad left for a week in Woucester with my other sister Yvette & family.

I've managed to write this with just a small lump in my throat & as said hav'nt shared it with any other tinterweb groups, just you lot. I'm over the worst & OOF folk have helped me along with your support. Even some of you i've locked horns with in the past have been kind none the less which is humbling.

Thanks to you all for helping me through a terrible time, Guy.

  I've taken tomorrow off work

Glad the funeral went well Guy.
You can really move forward now, the time leading up to funerals is like being in limbo from experience.  Don't get hung up on feeling ok and bottling things up, let yourself grieve and go through the natural emotions, you don't have to be strong for others you know.

Big hug and lots of love, take care of you. :-*

Glad to hear it Guy. Shame I never managed to take you up on the Sunday roast invitation at your folks place but, from what you've said (publicly and privately), your mum wouldn't want you to dwell too long on it.

Big hug from Emma and we'll see you soon mate :y

Well done on having a 'good' day of it, not easy I know.

Hard times gone, and ahead, take each day at a time, it does get easier.  :y

Guy ,you've been through the eye of the needle and now on the other side you can reflect and remember her with all the love and affection she deserves.
I was where you are last year with my elder ( and wiser ) sister who brought me up after our Mother died when I was eight .
I thought the pain would never end but now I can reflect on how much I loved  her, and still do , and enjoy just taking some time out to think of and remember her for everything she gave and taught me.
Life goes on , but you'll love her forever .
Good luck Mate . :y

Nothing is worse than losing someone you loved....Been there and done that more than once so you have our sympathy.
Besdt advice you have already had.. keep busy and the pain will lessen over time. You never do forget though because they were a big part of your life.
Life and death are intertwined and both are just part of the cycle of life. Sadly it comes to us all in time and all we can hope for is a good life were we do no wrong to others and help where we can.
Keep your friends close and do not reject their offers to help.
Chin up, you will be ok in the end. :y
