Its each to their own at the moment, the current guidelines dont really cover it.

If someone was doing a whole car....then I'd expect just 1 thread.

a few unrelated parts, I dont really see the issue, in some ways its easier as you dont need to go into the thread to see multiple items.

Not sure this thread was the best way to go about this, a pm to one of the admin may have been better.

Im guessing you find it easier to click on a thread marked 'for sale' and read the whole thing than a quick glance at an index?

Currently down to the seller how to sell.

This may, or may not change in the future.

Maybe we should limit the number of active (non-locked) threads anyone can have at any one point in time ::)

Hardly seems fair to bump everyone else's ad off the first page. But then that's purely a first glance view....  And hence probably ill informed...? :-/

If OP would like to re-instate his original post (guessing it`s a complaint) then any or everyone would be able to express their own opinions if they have one. ;) Can`t really see the point of posting a question/complaint/query then deleting it :-/

It was along the lines of why do some people list each item individually...as this makes it harder to see the posts of those using one thread for several / many items and knocks them off the front page.

IMO  one post for all you have for sale  and the seller can edit it IE sold/reduced etc . as i know if i had put something up for sale and a oofer came along 5 mins later and added multi items all in separate posts and moved mine off the front page id be ticked of a tad .also limit the time a item is for sale say 14 days then delete it . if its still for sale then the seller can re post it . just my tuppence worth  :y

Not having a moan at anyone, as everyone (who doesn't get deleted/moderated/moved/etc) is within the rules, but I personally think the For Sale sections need a revamp.

To my mind, its not quite the same as when they were first created (could say that for the entire forum TBH  :'(), and seem to be dominated by 2 or 3 people all the time.  And some people seem (or come across that way) to be here for no other reason than to make a few quid from OOF, and only participate in the help areas if they can use it as an opportunity to extend the For Sale sections.

To my mind, although perfectly within the rules, it goes against my own feelings of what OOF is about.  Regulars will probably know its been grating me for some time, and I've frequently publically said I would shut down the For Sale sections as being more hassle than they are worth.

As said, this is my own personal view, and most definately not necessarily the combined view of the Admin Team (we are democratic, and frequently don't get our own (personal) ways ;D).

And not meant as a swipe at anyone/group who do use the site in the way I think they do ;)

Valid point :-[
Maybe something along the lines of if a member has more than say three items to sell list them in one post and three or less, individually :-/

Maybe whole cars being broken should be listed as one item with the thread periodically updated to show what has gone what is left and when the car has gone , thread is locked.

Then other items for casual sellers, for example set of uprated rear springs surplus to requirements due to new lowered springs fitted , listed on their own.

i would personally charge a one off fee to sell things . and use the revenue for the site upkeep and the like . if ppl are using the site just as a way of making a fast buck then they should expect to pay . only my opinion mind  ;)

That goes against one of our founding principles, so not something I personally would ever agree to.

Hence the post count limit, to prevent that
