i would personally charge a one off fee to sell things
That goes against one of our founding principles, so not something I personally would ever agree to.

thats cool but how do you get around the fast buck guys extracting the P .  :-/

i would personally charge a one off fee to sell things . and use the revenue for the site upkeep and the like . if ppl are using the site just as a way of making a fast buck then they should expect to pay . only my opinion mind  ;)
Hence the post count limit, to prevent that
Its far from the most ideal method, and still open to abuse.

can you increase the thread count for a particular section?

Instead of having just 20 (or what ever it is threads per page) make it 200?

I guess DB query time would be an issue, but do that many people access it compared with Gen chat?

(close the for sale section) GASP  One would hope not!

It has been a valuable source of parts for me for the last five years. Parts that the vendor knows will fit my car. It would be very sad to see it close.

That said, technically it is a database of sorts. And its certainly kind of a query, in a woolly kind of way.

In a nutshell, Tunnie, I don't think that is feasible :y

I would say No...

But there are those who only ever seem to contribute if theres a sale to be made.

It must be stored someware, and when posts read pulled out of something!

I specifically haven't mentioned in my rants (remember, my own personal comments, not 'Admin viewpoint') specific users.

You've been here long enough to know the unwritten, undefined 'OOF spirit', so can make your own mind if you fall within it or not.  I'm not getting into a conversation at this point who does and who doesn't in my opinion :y

Though in a nutshell, if a member only sells stuff, and only enters the help section to post (s)he has the required part for sale to fix a specific problem, then thats not in (my interpretation) the spirit :y
