Kidney Stones
« on: 31 July 2011, 22:02:27 »

Anyone ever suffered from one of these?

Felt a bit rough last night, woke up this morning to have a CT scan.

It's the most painful, uncomfortable thing i can ever recall.

Yup, they are a sod, only ever suffered from one, hopefully never again.

Was torture - for about 10 days IIRC.   :-/

It's painful but better for you if you can pass it yourself.
I had a friend who had one wedged at some point in his tract and it had to be blasted to break it up small enough to pass, he was ill with the pain.

Fingers crossed it won't be bad for you, what did the scan show?

I may have done...twice.

Not pleasant at all.

despite ultra sound, CT scans....and cameras going where no camera should EVER go...they could prove nothing.

All the best with it.

Yup I had mine from October to Feb a few years back and the bugger wouldn't shift. Rushed to hospital a few times as my temp went through the roof.
They were all set to ultrasonic it but the pain became too much and they ended up lasering it.
You need to drink plenty of fluids in high acidity, so pickled onions and avoid dark green veg, brussel sprouts, cucumber with skin on and minimise your calcium intake, so cut back on milk, cheese etc for a while :y

Never had them, but I'll swap your (no doubt painful) kidney stones for a stage 4 cancer if you like?  ;D

My brother had a kidney stone a few years back, he woke up one morning and was doubled up and crying in pain - required a hospital stay until he was able to pass it  :(

Puts things into perspective. Wish you all the best mate.

Thanks to all for well wishes.

Ljay, scan showed no stone, but evidence one had just passed. Hopefully its just a healing process now :)
