Olympic Games tickets........
« on: 10 August 2011, 12:27:10 »

Did anyone get any? Out of all the people I know that applied for tickets, not a single one of got any. My brother applied for quite a few events (would have cost him nearly 2 grand if he'd have got them all!!) and didn't get a single one.
So much for us hosting the games when we can't go to them! :'(

Majority were already accounted for by the sponsors and corporate hospitality groups. One big rip-off

Fixed that for ya!   ;)

And most of those seats will end up empty, like at Wimbledon.  We need some rule that if there isn't a bum on every one of these seats by the time the event starts, it gets sold to a local resident for a tenner.

I got nothing in the first round.I got up early for the second round 'left overs' and really wanted to get to an Athletics session.

I did get two tickets for the Beach Volleyball which i only really went for as a joke to wind up the missus.

I am really looking forward to it now as its in Horseguards parade and a morning session of one mens and one ladies game (hopefully the Brazilian scantily clad champs). So its going to be a day out in London with lunch at the Palace and afternoon Tea at Arrods followed by a romantic stroll through Hyde Park.
Tickets cost me £55 each so better be worth it. Still hoping to get tickets for the Athletics as i wanted to go to the new stadium.
I may well try for tickets for the Paralympics which go on sale next month.

I don't know anyone who got tickets.
We didn't apply for any due to cost and logistics if we'd got them.
It's something I really, really want to go to and might have bought tickets etc if I could choose what event to see.

I think it's a disgrace the way this country has breaked up what should be one of our greatest hosting events.  I went to the commonwealth games when they were in Manchester and that was a farce so guess we couldn't expect too much from the olympics committee! >:( :(

Mind you... I'm seriously considering it as an opportunity for a cheap holiday now ::)

Personally I was considering renting the house out to rich Olympic visitors and leaving the country as the most preferential option!

We got tickets to handball in the second round. To be honest we wanted to take the kids down to the olympic park, enjoy the atmosphere and experience watching anything really - as long as it was at the olympic park.  My Dad got tickets to football at Coventry  ::), can't see the point in that....

It would seem that a handful of people have got tickets to some of the minor events, so where the bloody hell have all the tickets gone for major events such as athletics, cycling, swimming etc.? :-/ Not to joe public obviously! >:(

Nope. We're only paying for it, Bob. >:(

I shall be as far away from the debacle as I can possibly get. A load of political willy-waving with a little bit of sport thrown in as an excuse. ::)

My mate round the corner did get tickets for one of the Athletic sessions and one with medal ceremony as well but he wont swop with my beach volley ball !

What i would like to know, and what i think we should have been told is exactly how many was available to GB citizens in the so called ballot.Accepting that other countries have to have some kind of allocation,it may have been that there wasn't that many up for grabs ?

I believe there will be some kind of 'swop shop' later for those with tickets they dont really want. And also i would imagine some countries may return some of their allocation at some point.

The whole ticketing business was a con trick imo.

Pretty much everyone who i know who applied for tickets got something, one even got two tickets to the opening ceremony.

Having spent 2 years working on the main stadium i wasn't really bothered in going there to see anything.

All the moaning about tickets going to coperate freeloaders and and the like isn't true, no one from Sir Robert McAlpine (Team Stadium as they called themselves down there) are getting free tickets. Even Ian Crockford who was the ODA project manger for the main stadium and a few other venues had to apply if he wanted to go.

Most of the tickets are reserverd for athelete's 'family'
