Lidl Cross Cut Mitre Saw
« on: 22 August 2011, 17:04:16 »

I bought this cross cut mitre saw from Lidl today and I'm impressed. It is a lot of saw for the money.  :y :y :y

http://www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg//SID-41B5819F-7EF41914/lidl_uk/hs.xsl/index_23502.htm?offerdate=&idcheck=true&ar2=&id=737&country=GB&zipcode=GU17+9AF&city=Camberley&district=Blackwater&street=London+Road&ar=2&nf=True

More heavy duty and much better than the cross cut saw it replaces, which it is broken with tooth missing on the electric motor gearbox spline.

Ooh.. I really shouldn't, but I might have to stop in on the way home..

Only thing is, I know I'll end up picking up one of everything they have like the time I went for the compressor  ;D

that looks a good saw for the money. i have a makita and a proline saw, i changed the blades with ones for cutting stainless steel as they give a very smooth cut on all types of timber, perfect for joints.

And it's the same shade of green as a Bosch!

Seriously though, the standard issue Chinese mitre saws aren't too bad as long as you don't expect them to stand up to heavy use.  The biggest issue is unwanted flexing, so give it a wiggle and check that it is fairly rigid.

It's also worth spending a few minutes adjusting the stops so that the basic angles are correct.  Just cut a test piece and check for square in both directions, then adjust accordingly.  Ditto 45 degrees on the compound.

And don't forget, always allow room for somebody else's hand between your hand and the blade  8-)

Went and had a look at these tonight .. didn't buy the saw in the end (I don't really need one) and they didn't have the shelving unit I wanted :(

Came out with some bananas and dishwasher tablets  ;D
