A usable pattern gasket? Or a fluke?

Car in question is a 3.0 V6. Had breathers blocked to beggary, and oil in all plug wells.

Free of charge, I fitted a pair of pattern gaskets - to get him through a rough patch short term.

Anyhow, fitted spotlessly clean, with breathers cleaned, using the correct sealant.

15k later...... dry as a bone  :o - I did not expect that.

Anyone guess the make?

Not Elring or FAI....  and I must say, they were well fitting, and nice and soft, not the usual poorly fitting pattern gaskets.

if the pattern part is good enough, and near enough spec, then why not.

pattern parts arent a problem.....bad pattern parts are  :y

What make and here did you get them James?  Have always felt the Vx gaskets, whilst good, were bl**dy expensive for what they were!!

was it the elastic out of some incontinent pants? cos ive heard they dont leak :D,,,,,,,i`ll shut the door on my way out :(

To do: Replace brake discs and pads; adjust already replaced shoes; check for leaks in oil cooler, cambelt area, crank seals, sump, dipstick; replace osf door; replace a tyre; clean, MOT.

No, it's none of them. I've not had much luck with them either.

It was made by Victor Reinz. I'd never heard of them before.

If it's the same as just Reinz, they make head gaskets. OE Senator 24v is a Reinz.
