Moron of the year - Police please read
« on: 31 August 2009, 11:30:26 »

number reported and being acted on - tatty Mondeo

Driving around our estate with a child on the drivers lap.

This is the second time I have seen the moron doing this, the first time the child was steering. >:( :o

If I have seen it twice - how often is he doing it.

Take photos! Pass them on to the West Mercia Traffic unit! If he jumps out and starts having a go dial 999 :y They are evidenciary photos so no privacy laws to worry about  as you're on a public roadway ;)

This may not have been the best way to approach the problem Martin :-/ :-/

I have broken no laws here, yet he has plenty.

Anyway - no comebacks as I do know where they live.

Sadly this vehicle shows as having no insurance at the moment, would be terrible for the car to be seized and crushed wouldn't it ;)

I assume when you say you've got a towbar, you mean you'll brake hard and he'll go into the back of you? But we've established there's an unrestrained child in the car, between the driver and the steering wheel so that's clearly not an option.
I'd simply dial 999 and report what you see, vehicle with unrestrained child occupant. Everytime you see it...report it. Not trying to annoy the police, just give them a clearer picture of how frequent it is. It clearly is a dangerous and frankly irresponsible way to drive, with no thought given to the childs safety. Persist until something is done  :y

I'd personally recommend using the Forces non-emergency number. If everyone called in an unrestrained child on the 9's, there would never be any capacity for more serious emergencies  :y

Have you thought to send the photos to your local mainstream paper with the story that he's been seen doing it on more than one occasion, they maybe interested in take up the story on the angle of why the Police haven't done anything about it ?. And the threat of Social Service getting involved if the story gathers speed may make idiot think twice about doing it again.

Just a thought ?.
