My dead omega
« on: 17 September 2009, 19:05:13 »

Some of you may know that about two weeks ago my Omega died on the M25 due to a snapped crank shaft :'( i then bought another Omega two days later from sheffield to take the engine out of but on the way i got just north of bristol when 3 rockers broke and smashed two valves in the the top of no4 piston making this engine about as much good as a boat anchor, i then set about trying to find one at a breakers and as luck would have it i found one at a vauxhall breakers in the midlands :) so i bought it on monday of this week for the sum of £750 and they said it will be with me wednesday, well it come today (a day late) and when i pulled all the card and srink wrap off i found that it has been some how damaged >:(, so i got on the phone to them and they told me that when they where putting it on the pallet they dropped it :o which has smashed the the stat housing, oil cooler and the rocker cover just above the timing chain and guess what some of the rocker cover has gone down in with the chain so now the diesel pump has to come out and the sump off to be able to get to the front of the engine just to get the bits of metel out, I put this to them and asked about some form of refund because it's about 4 hours work and with parts needed comes to about £250 + vat and all they told me was it only takes half hour to do all that >:( >:( getting a little fed up now and i have to wait till the weekend to find out what they are going to do.

That's shocking service, probably no use to you now (after spending all that money!) but have you seen this one mentioned on another thread

I would send it back but i have found that the Y22DTH engine is thin on the ground and the Y22DTR from the vectra will not work and is also hard to get hold of :(

Hmmm, makes me wonder if its worth selling the 2.2DTi I have complete or if I should break it :-/

Well what a day, called the vauxhall breaker in the midlands and told them to stick it where the sun don't shine and did the A1 find a part thing and come up trumps, i now have a 03 DTI engine on it's way to me and should be with me on Monday morning ;D best bit is itcomes with a 3 month and unlimited miles warranty :o but has cost me £870.

Y22dth very rare to find though, most of the other 2.2 diesels in the Vauxhall range use the Y22dtr.
