My MKI Carlton, B series Senators x 2 & and my Omega have never put the light on when the ABS kicks   :y
I'm not saying it's not the case Andy.

The four makes of car I listed above have all alerted me when I tripped the ABS (intentionally or otherwise), what I'm saying is that I'd be surprised the driver isn't warned of what has happened.

I would have thought a flashing dash icon in a situation where you need ABS to work would be a dangerous distraction  :-/

Don't think my Omega gives an indication when ABS kicks in (it does for TC certainly) , but might have to give it a try now. Normally the dashboard is the last thing that grabs my attention when it goes pear shaped. ;)

VAuxhall obvioulsy thinks the pedal kicking is enough to warn you the ABS is doing it's bit. Some cars have a warning light to tellyou that cruise has been set ....   :-? should you not be able to tell without a light?  ;)  ;)  ;)

I'll try SWMBO's Smart over the next few days. It tells you when the traction control has triggered .... apparently!  ::)  ::)  :y :y

Been pondering this overnight and i do vaguely remember one of my cars having a flashing ABS light under braking and when I consulted the handbook it explained that this was due to the ABS cutting in and to modify my driving style  ;D

I put black tape over it-it was distracting at night!!

It appears that some manufacturers think pedal shake is enough and some light the icon, then?

I wish the Omega had a "cruise on" icon though...

Omega definately doesn't.  The Focus we had (51 plate) definiately didn't. None of the Rovers didn't. Bro's beemer doesn't.

In fact, can't think of a car I've ever driven and had ABS activate that has brought ABS light on  :-/

Agreed .. the ONLY time an ABS light should illuminate is if an ABS fault is detected.

Had this on the granny - light flashing in time with ABS action felt even though the road was dry and the speed was slow ... turned out to be a faulty sensor.
