Sometimes mate the only person you can blame for a bad egg is the previous owner for failing to keep up with the maintainence on it,just sounds better that way i think.Ive never had any problems with any vx ive had,and thats why i will always have vx.

I love the car when it's running, one of the best I've had, but it never goes for more than a couple of weeks without f**king up in some way or other. I had a banger of a Fiesta before this, and it never let me down. Not once. I'm fast becoming the laughing stock in work because I'm always having to turn up either walking or having a lift with someone 

You're right though, perhaps it was poorly maintained in the past

Guess weve all had cars like this at one time or another. Spent a fortune on my old Prelude and loved the car to bits-when she was running right!The problem comes when youve spent so much money on it and then something else goes and its a case of do you spend that bit more and hope it'll be alright this time because otherwise it seems that all the money youve already spent will have gone down the drain, or do you simply bite the bullet and see it as throwing good money after bad? The better half was far from happy about the money I'd spent I can tell you. I loved the car but she was ,of course, right and all my wishfull thinking wouldnt put the Prelude right. Sometimes you have to think outside the box ie"how much better would I feel if I had a car that ran well and didnt cost me the earth every month or so?" This was a Honda with all the "reliability" we hear about. One of those things, theres always going to be a few baduns (no doubt made worse by previous owners treatment). I do sympathise with you, but (touch wood) my own mig has done very well. So far anyway!Hope you get it all sorted soon

The daft thing is that my car has a strong history and loads of invoices, plus had lots of new bits like powersounder, cat and so on.

I knew it needed a fair bit when I looked at it, hence the works before MOT, then my perfecting works after-but in hindsight probably paid a bit too much for it.

But I have replaced an epic amount of the car in the last three months and still things go wrong-I reckon it now owes me nearly 3k and still needs 4 wheel alignment after both wishbone were done on Sat, the towbar electrics, gear selector lock acutator or brake switch (both?), rear springs and poss doughnut bushes.

Ironically, the car was bought to save money but has cost a fortune.  For the same outlay I could have bought something newer, more fuel efficient and safer but I am resigned to the fact that it is a nice car and I must keep it for many years-I just hope that when these last bits are done, it will run for a while without needing anything else.  We do need a large car now and it was great on the last Poland run; but if these repairs keep coming I would save money buy leasing a Skoda Superb or similar that does 50mpg, is cheaper to tax and is covered by a warranty.

My biggest worry is that if it gets in the slightest accident, my Omega will be written off and I would only get around £1000 from the insurers-losing the £2000ish and many months of hard work and anguish.

I think I have been unlucky so far and hope that the story ends happily with trouble-free use for many years ahead  :-/

Pay the same as that (Including fuel) and go to WIM... Tony really knows his onions and is worth the drive (I do a 200+ mile round trip to see him and people come further!)

Hi Geoff,

Greetings from Wroclaw. I can't do my training course as good old LOT lost all our baggage .. ARGHHHHHHH So waiting for it to turn up, together with my clothes, washbag etc. So, yes, that pong is probably me. 

On the Omega front, I've returned to them after a 7 year absence and wanting a project car after being made redundant, so, mine is really a plaything TBH.

In saying that, I had 6 Omegas from new as company cars and they were ALL unreliable during my "ownership". A non-stop stream of little niggles which were all done under warranty I must say. So, this one is only the 2nd one that I've actually owned (well 3 if you count the one I bought for bits and then scrapped).

So, why did I have more again and buy one now. Well, I actually really like them I suppose is the real reason, although would I be as accepting if it had hit me so hard in the pocket - maybe not, its hard to say unless you are there.

WIM sorted me out, but found a number of iffy suspension bits turning the £60 "pop in" visit into a £270 all day one.  :-/

Hope this helps, & yes, I will be drinking Vodka tonight - despite being a pongo.
