I want to Publicly express my Heartfelt Thanks to Lee (welung666) for all the help & encouragement he has given me over the past week.
I have been replacing the H/G on my 2.2, and haven't tackled anything this serious for near on 40 years! I was very apprehensive about doing the work, as cars are a bloody sight more technical now than then, and just glancing at the jumble of stuff under the bonnet made me come out in a cold sweat &   as I am still not fully fit from my surgery last year & the Chemo leaves you tired & feeling lousy, I only tackled it because we couldn't afford a Garage Job and desperately needed the car fixing. But, together with Mr Haynes Manual, the Invaluable guides found here, & the help & encouragement of Lee, i've cracked it & she's running a treat!  Thanks Lee, you are a 'Diamond  Geezer' mate :y

Thats the 'OOF spirit' - localish members helping each other out :y

I have certainly benefitted from living near to Omegatoy, before he emmigrated, as well as Tunnie.  I have also been fortunate enough for people to be prepared to travel a fair way to assist, particularly during the Project Tractor engine saga :y :y :y

The Project Tractor engine saga should be starting a new chapter next weekend (as long as my old mans got over his cold).

Again a huge thanks to Lee for sorting all the parts at a brilliant price. Also thanks to you Jaime for the loan of your cam locking kit and to Elite Pete for shipping the kit to me!

I honestly don't know what I would have done without you guys, well I do actually, it would now be on Ebay as spares or repairs without an MOT or Tax and a stuffed HG. £200 tops I reckon.

If they are any local members to you, an extra pair of hands to help lift the head off would help. They are pretty heavy!

Jaime, on a scale of 1-10, how difficult a job is this. I've done plenty of headgaskets in my time, just never on a 6 cylinder diesel!!!!

It's a Head Gasket... They're all similar, although you've got the timing chain to deal with instead of a belt :y :y :y
