Hindsight is so good in foresight...............I'll bet this was debated to death in VX, and this was the cheapest way to do it............

Yeah, good point!

Ford did that a few years ago with their "dealer service only" parts on the duratech V6.....took me about an hour to work out how to do it, as did many others!

The design approach will be totaly based around the factory assembly cost....with some thoguh put into servicing to keep fleet customers happy.....but not at the expense of assembly costs!

Indeed, at £75 per hour!

These cars were designed heavily with the business fleet customers in mind, who would simply have the cars serviced by the main dealers without too much thought, and when about to start costing real replacement of parts money sold them on to joe public! :P :P :P

I know from when I signed the dealer invoices for my company to pay them, and when my still only 18 months old car, but with 110+k on the clock (in fact one got to 150K in that time) was changed to another brand new one!
Ah lovely days for me then, but now as a private owner I pay for those poor design flaws! :'( :'( :'(

..........and yes I agree the worst flaw on the V6 miggy is the non accessibility of the passenger bank plugs!! >:( >:( >:(  The oil filter is the least of the flaws! :D :D
