Just done a run down to Devon and Back ( Wolves to Newton Abbot) and included a few days out.

Total 548 miles

And using a 2.2 Dti Estate towing my wobble box on the back approx 1250kg.
3 Adults and 2 Children in the car as well.

Average Speed :- 46.3 Mph

And then here's the shock :- 29.8 MPG

My 3.0 does 19-20mpg towing.

I've seen windy conditions push this down to 15mpg.

My 2.5 was around the same mpg as well.

My 2.2 only does that local journeys, no towing :o

I daren't put a caravan on the back ;D or I'd need a tanker (petrol)  on the back as well. :y

how come Mr Imber gets 15mpg when towing?  ;D

Because running on LPG I do not slow for hills.

And I keep to road limits not towing limits :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[.

And LPG is less MPG but also less £ per mile

With the 2.0 using decent petrol BP or Shell I could average 20mpg easily on the Somerset levels, hills were hard work though

Did you have to take the mother-in-law ::)

My 3.0 give's me about 27 mpg towing and i found the same as you when i was using my DTI that it found it hard to get above 30mpg and with using the V6 hills, what hills ;)

Our former 2.0 Auto returned 22mpg towing the caravan - quite realistic, I felt. :y

As already said, it wouldn't win any races, but no issues with it towing either. ;)

i prefer chucking a tent in the back and doing 80mph and getting 34mpg on petrol, or equivalent 50mpg on gas  8-)

Damn Caravans should be slapped with a green tax like 4x4's!

Nothing quite like a tent when the wind gets up and it's raining cats and dogs, trying to sleep and keep warm.

Can't beat it :D
