Towing an auto .....
« on: 24 April 2010, 08:52:59 »

Hi,

What's the furthest that you can tow an auto with it in N?

I've heard only 30 miles or so.

Thanks

i don't think I would risk it, but there is some sort of speed limit like 15mph?

Few years ago, a friend had his Omega towed back to Scotlandshire by the AA after his car broke down at Billing.
Long story short - AA paid out over £3,000 to Vauxhall for new gearbox..........

OK, bit further that 30 miles, but illustrates why I wouldn't wanna risk it, cos I don't know how many miles it travelled before the gearbox became kaput.

I towed The Silver Bullet about 200 miles but we dropped the propshaft down which is by far the best way Rob.

Agreed, takes 10 minutes to drop the rubber donut from behind the gearbox. I've towed an auto 200+ miles that way :y
