omega/jaguar read the following ;)
« on: 29 May 2010, 18:14:06 »

I know this is just general chit chat but i do have a request, i own a 2.5 v6 cd saloon but i think the standard is a little bit "boring" so i am getting my windows fully tinted next week. But anyway as for the engine this is just a question to see what everyone thinks, as you all know the omega is a huge can but if you look under the bonnet you will notice that the engines are really far back and there is loads of room between where the radiator is and the engine starts ( which is why they did the V8 concept) but tou can see the belts are all at the front of the engine, As is the pullys and belts on the jaguar 4.2 sc. (can anyone see where im going?  :P) I have thought about this and looked at each engine on its own and apart and i am going to install the 4.2 sc, supercharger on my omega :).
what is your thoughts? :) :y
any ideas or negative or possitive vibes welcome :)

and if it doesnt....sounds like you wouldnt be adverse to putting a new engine in and trying again...a 2.6 / 3.2 may be a little stronger for it.

well my other plan is get a omega with a dead engine and im planning on putting the srt8 engine (out of the grand cherokee, charger, 300c ect) in to the omega :) the bay has pelenty of room but would need a bonnet buldge so that should be fun :).
but ye if i blow up my 2.5 i will go for the 3.2 i think and strap it on to the engine and try again :)

in your 2.5, might get tied in a not(edit; or even a knot :-[ ;D) with too much extra poke :)

I like your idea but have you considerd the cost.
The 4.2 engine can give 460 + BHP & 550 NM torque.
So the GM box will need upgrading, ZF do a nice box that should fit.
Then you have the dif............Quaife do one that will take the power.
Then you have the brakes...AP do nice 6 pot caliper set up.
But your big problem will be the management  system Jag use CAN and VX didnt for the omega, this will cost big bucks to do............ :o

Yes, if it's got an AR25 gearbox on it, it will struggle with the sort of torque it will develop under boost.

The V6 is quite a high compression engine as well, so won't take must boost before you run into trouble. Fitting 3.0 heads might help out there (larger combustion chambers).

The V6 needs cooling mods over about 250 BHP by all accounts due to the rear cylinders being inadequately cooled.

Don't forget 3.0 cams is a worthwhile upgrade for a 2.5 as well.
