Most B6 saloon vehicles are realistically deployed where the ballistic threat is more to the fore - although if memory serves right the floor is also plated.
Pete wasn't far off in his remark about speed, that 2.2DTi wouldn't be the fastest off the blocks - although if you were brave enough the 3.2 armoured version (more commonly used in CPU's) had a fair enough turn of speed.
I learned about the limitations of armoured saloon vehicles the hard way back in the 70's when a landcrab I was driving decided not to stop on the way down to a roundabout at the end of a dual-carriage way near Leeds/Bradford Airport. I still to this day remember that sinking feeling in my stomach and the delightful aroma of cooked brakes.
