Does it have to be an estate, what about a bloody big hatchback. A fully loaded Signum 3.0 V6 TDi

I like those too, and they are cheapish to buy.
They never really took off and sold in great numbers, diesel look good economy.

I'm half thinking saloon, but might regret later when I need a load lugger to shift stuff.
If a saloon then the Skoda Superb (diesel) looks a very good buy, seems a reliable motor and well liked.
Seen an 04 plate Comfort spec with 87k on for £4250, seems a good buy.

Having made the move from a Volvo XC70 T5 (because I didn't like the 5 speed manual box) to the Omega saloon (couldn't get the estate at the time) I would say that you'll regret not holding out for an estate.

If I was going to replace my TD Estate, I'd be seriously looking at a Volvo V70 Estate Mick - absolute 'boss' mate!
 :y
Although they're FWD; I've not heard any adverse comments about them regarding their towing capabilities.
