wim's national network and the club discount
« on: 21 July 2010, 20:40:22 »

Moderators if this thread pushes the limit please delete.

As some may know i have opened a more national network of tyre fitting and geometry calibration partners so that owners don't have to travel 100's of miles to us.

The way this works is you can buy tyres or calibration or both from us here> https://www.blackboots.co.uk/order.php and then you choose the centre nearest to you. Each centre has to use our data, procedure and QC, each job is policed by us to ensure everything has gone to plan.

There is a down side. For the club wim station will calibrate the chassis for £65+ vat, if you use one of the partner centres the price will be £95+ vat.

The reason for this is i set the deal for the club so i'm prepared to take a dive on the reward, whereas i cannot expect the fitting partners to be so generouse.

In summery if you want the club deal come to us, if you want to go more local but have the assurance we are policing the work then be prepared to pay a little more.

Regards
Tony@ wim

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me Tony. I must add that, although about a 300 mile round trip, it's well worth coming down and visiting you... Yet again the handling of my car has been transformed! :y :y

Makes sense (unfortunately) .. but I guess the other centres would be free to make their OWN discounts if they wished to ?? Just that WIM will not impose such a discount ??

I'll still travel to Chesham having received such excellent service on previous visits.

The online geometry sales is a world first, the reason for this is because it's so difficult to police, in essence the owner is buying the calibration from us in advance of their visit to the chosen centre, in the case of the Omega i have to assume the front/ rear toe needs correcting, the front camber needs our positions and possibly the front sub-frame needs to be moved, in this event the fee commands £95+, but the assurance is within that fee whatever problem the car has it will be solved.

When someone buy online the purchase order goes to wim reception, the company in question and me. I then assess if the company in question has all the details for that car, if not i contact them. While the car is being calibrated the company and myself have a live link if there's any problems, after the work is done i examine the final report to ensure our orders were carried out.

Sounds like a good system, and it certainly worked smoothly for my order earlier in the year albeit that that was only for tyres. :y

The policing is most reassuring on two counts IMO.
1 quality to the customer obviously
2 insuring the investment, seen far too many instances of a top quality products/services loosing it's way through expansion.

Fiirst hand experience being micheldever(to large a concern now to give a friendly personal service) and their slough franchise at pro tyre, one of the young lads got my car to change a track rod end and set up while on the bench as they are round the corner from my work. Had to walk into the bay and ask them to stop and drop the car down. Tried to blame a clearly worn track rod giving 7 mill of play at the wheel at 3-9 o'clock position on failed wish bone bushes. Track rod marginal apparently. Muppets. Guy couldn't get the wheel nut caps off and battered my side skirt with an air Jack while the car was on the ramp.

Diy'd it in the end and set the toe myself. 8-) will be booking at Chesham to see how far out I am?

Anyaway, reassuring Tony. Hope it works out for you. If the service at Wim is upheld elsewhere I'm sure it will. :y

None near Bournemouth yet i see. Nearest in Bath. Would definately like to get the Senator done when it is back on the road.
Is there a quick way of locating participating garages near you without having to go thru all the steps first?

I think the map on the WIM site is a tad screwed up !!!

The Chris Mullins site shown near Bath ( zoom in its Melksham, Wiltshire,) is actually in Gloucester ... and the site shown in Gloucester has an address in Middlesex !!!

Don't know if any others are wrong .. but those two certainly are, well on my system anyway !!
