Any of us with a Tech 2 can do a gearbox update. Results depend on model and what version you currently have but in most cases it will give a significant improvement in refinement of the gearchanges and make the box a bit more perky.

Mine has had the updates afaik.when going downhill(and presumably on the flat) if I lift off it changes down a gear, gives some engine breaking. Never noticed this on an auto before,is this something to do with the updates or have I got a quirky box? :D :-/

JonnyCBoy asked me to check everything on that car was up to date at the Essex meet.  :y

I think the update made mine change down on downhill sections a bit more readily it I recall correctly.

Thanks for confirming what I suspected Kevin. I was fairly sure I remembered you updating the climate and then attempting to update the box but finding out that it had already been done.
Also nice to know that your box has the same characteristics, so mine doesnt have a problem. :y

Whilst I like the extra refinement/smoothness of the changes whilst cruising, its the more solid drive it gives when powering off roundabouts/corners that I like.

Which reminds me, I must go out and update the gearbox on the Worlds Worse Kept Secret on the drive. And the engine firmware.
