You nont need to remove the hub, just the lower balljoint so you can swing the hub assembly forward enough to get the joint out.

Not sure I understand? as in turn it full lock, then a little bit more (tracking off track rod as well)?

Detach lower (wishbone) ball joint and you cna swing the hub out whilst still attached to the strutt....this will give enough slack to get the cv joint out of the hub.

Have you done that on a Rover 25, as not convinced there is movement in the strut  :-/

I'll give it a go once I've located my flippin splitter, and bought some split pins (presumably they shouldn't be reused?

Undo the large nut in the end of the CV joint and then the bottom ball joint and track rod end, that will allow the hub to be pulled out enough to clear the end of the CV joint. Be careful not to pull the opposite end of the drive shaft out of the gearbox as you will end up with a large pool of gearbox oil on your drive ::)

Yep... Be aware that it may well be a Left Handed thread too :y

You can probably get away without splitting the TR End by turning the wheel to full lock after removing the Bottom BJ ;)

rovers use a  normal rh thread on the hub nut,as others have said just undo bottom balljoint and swing hub out to gain neccesary clearance. joint is a knock off type so no hidden circlip to grapple with
