Based on the results of this poll so far either the placebo effect is in full swing or there are a lot of Omegas out there with bust kickdown switches. ;D

Well, there's an interesting concept. If you could develop the dexterity to control a couple of flappy paddles perhaps a sequential gearbox might be an interesting upgrade. ;D

Looks like an arguement best settled at the york meet if you are allowd on the strip.

2 cars   1 in SM other not

then do 2 directional runs, one each way.

then the car that was using SM tuen it off and the other turn it on and 2 more runs each.

Set the distance first.
Sports mode will make NO difference from a standing start (esp with later g/box s/w) as the change will still happen at redline if foot is planted, irrespective of Sports mode or not.

A badly adjusted throttle cable will mean the kickdown switch doesn't activate

Th only Auto Mig i've driven was Richard Irvs 2.6 MV6 at the OOF dragstrip at the last Yorkmeet. We swapped cars for two runs. I'd had a few!!! & first run i forgot the sport button & 2nd run i shifted the gears manually. Much better, she flew!
Of course if you really want get off the line quickly buy a Cheeky little MX5. Pete made his point!!!!

as others have said, seems to make no difference on mine if your talking 0-60 from a standing start, but if dropped into 3rd and S button selected for overtaking or windy roads I do see an improvement. From doing about 30-40 Ive done this and left the scooby that was up my a*se behind while his turbo lag caught him out too ::)Id never go back to a manual now as an auto is just so much more stress free for the driving conditions I do now. Would obviously love a manual with a bit of poke like an integra or something just for windy road fun but the two are really not comparable as they are two differnt beasts designed to do two different things. Like my creature comforts too much these days :y

'sports' and 'auto' always seemed a bit of an oxymoron to me :P :P :-X
