Thanks for that, but sorry I meant what kind of price would a full lock set, including the boot locking gear, keys etc be? (Obviously when you next have one in.)

He`s breaking a facelift. It`s an estate but he might be able to sort you with keys, doorlock & ign barrell

I still can't see why you need a lock set.  :-/ If you need more than the one key for the car, it make sense to make the incorrect lock fir the key you have.  :-/

Fair enough, the reasons are:

Drivers ignition barrel dickey
Rear lock does not fit the key
Only have one key anyway
Mate fancies the remote-opening boot idea
No carpass

So the the 'wants list' is

newer ignition barrel
gear to make leccy boot opening
new key cut to fit, keyplip needs to be then programmed to fit the car

after you've done all that the only original bit left on the car is the drivers doorlock!

new key/programming £75-£110
Carpass £15-£50
leccy boot gear £15
New ignition barrel made to fit current key £??

total =£too much!

Just looked at the excellent pic RobG,

Thanks very much for that, you may be the guy I need to speak to some more!.

It's not something we're obsessing over just yet, but replacing the lock system with a facelift version would be a good way of getting newer keys, sorting a dickey bootlock as well as 'modding' the car by upgrading to remote boot opening.

What sort of price would you want for the lot? That'd ideally be including wiring for the bootlock and he'd want both keys too.

Thanks again for your help so far, it's always nice to learn new things. Its even nicer when that info is actually useful, unlike most of what I know!  8-)

The newer 3 button keys are less reliable than the older 2 button keys
