vauxhall corsa
« on: 23 November 2010, 15:53:50 »

been looking for a car for my boy, and see this. its in excellent condition but has a slight fault

50,000 miles, X-Reg, 3 Door Hatchback, Metallic Blue, Petrol, Manual, MOT, Remote Central Locking, CD Player, Air Bag, Good Condition. Car runs but engine cuts out when its been running for a while. Hence the Price. £495.

could this be something major or a small problem to resolve

Could be a couple of things Rich. It could be the tank vacuuming and causing fuel starvation but more likely crank sensor. Paperclip it :y

when it cuts out is that when idling or driving?  if its at idle i would have thought a simple fix   could be a nice little bargain

havent been to see it yet, so just wanted to see what sort of problem it could be. the car looks real nice in the pics and theres not a lot about for £500 for a first car.

how do you paperclip test a corsa and what sort of codes am i looking for??

my mrs has a 1.2 corsa on a w plate and about 8 months ago i had the same proplem, sometimes it would be okay for the day next day it was cutting out every 50 yards.i also thought it might be fuel starvtion so removed filler cap but it still did it.
whent to garage got it read for 25 quid and it was the sensor think it cost about 20 quid.

again, some corsa's wont work for either.

Ive done one for a friend, neither pedal or paperclip worked.

Code reader revealed the fault.  :y

Is it the 1.0 12v as we took one in part exchange with a similar fault?

yes mate.  i'm not in a rush to buy but if it is the crankshaft sensor could be a pretty good buy for a 1st car for me lad.
