has anyone tried the cheep chip of fleabay they go for about£60 ish and say it takes the horsepower to 234 or there abouts.... so are they any good.............are they safe or will i be the gineapig..... let me know your thoughts......cheers
(From memory) = they are nothing more than a resistor. They fool the CTS (coolant temp sensor) into believing the engine is colder than it actually is - and hence the ECU makes it run a bit richer by adding more fuel.
My personal opinion is that they are a bloody awful idea and should be avioded like the plague...
Time would be much better spend looking after the engine than playing with such gadgets - such as making throttle bodies and breathers squeaky clean, oil and filter changed... so on so forth...
Nope its not, there is a German bloke selling a chip that is i direct exchange. I bought one, and thought it was def an increase in power, then i got a bit worried so bought an M-Tek chip, and there is no difference, infact ill go out on a limb to say after 6 months i'm not that impressed with the M-tek chip, and you are better off buying the e-bay one. I know theres no back up from the e-bay chip, but i've never needed any from M-Tek so it doesnt realy make any difference
I actually only paid £36 for the German one in an open auction so don't 'buy it now' wait an open auction.
The 234bhp is basically crap, i've had mine RR twice, it got 228 the first time and 244 the second, but i know the 228 is more likely
