Fuel consumption
« on: 22 December 2010, 20:34:38 »

My 3.0 litre auto estate Omegas fuel consumption has gone from 22mpg to 17mpg over the last week or so :(
I hope its just because of the crappy driving conditions and nothing more serious. Has anyone else seen a dramatic drop in mpg because of the weather?

If anything mine has gone up! I'm running a manual oil burner. Because the journeys are slower due to the weather the car is warming up properly rather than half warm on my normal commute. Also the slower driving has helped, I average 23/24 without the snow, up closer to 30 now :y

Mine on last tank was 19.5mpg, which I thought was quite good, seeing as I left it idling for about 3hrs on Saturday, and have made extensive use of snow mode.

Left it deicing when I cleared the driveway...  ...then I went in for a cup of tea...  ...then I got distracted... ::)

Hi guys, ive just bought a 2.6 MV6 off Pedro. The best i can get out of it is 29mpg on a run, thats driving like a grandad. Is that normal for one of these? I could get better out of my Monza than that.

My 3.0 litre estate auto averaged 17.1 mpg for the last tank full. It was very cold and it was in permanent 'snow mode'. I have just driven up to Scotland with 4 people a large dog and a full roof box, I averaged 25.3 mpg. I was quite pleased with this ;D ;D ;D

I drove to Pembrokeshire a couple of weeks ago (320 miles) and on the way there the MID average reading was 29.7, sitting at around 70 nost of the time. I was quite pleased with that. On the way back the M25 was the usual road to hell at 4pm on a Friday - averaging about 10mph, which dropped the average back down to around 27mpg.
My normal driving(almost no motorway) usually returns a reading of around 24mpg.

I managed 35 mpg at one stage untill I left the M5 for the A417/419 on my trip down south a few weeks back and that wasn't particularly driving like a grandad .... 70/80 mph . It still read 29 mpg when I got back home after dragging an Astra on an A frame from the south coast. :y

LPG? Will give inaccurate results.  Actual (petrol) MPG will be a bit higher, LPG mpg a shade lower ime
