Me mother had a standard cooper s from 2003 to 2007. Can really say anything bad. no problems from what i can remember,, a hoot to drive. Interior seems to wear quite badly though.

I had a Mini in 2006 with the same wheels/tyres as an option. They were run flats made by Dunlop as you don't get a spare wheel in the car and just a tube of slime to do an emergency repair with so check it has got the correct tyres on it as they are not cheap to replace.
As it's a JCW model get the supercharger checked out as well.
All new Minis came with a TLC servicing package so make sure that has been done.
The only failure on my car was the remote tailgate release button so until it was fixed you had to lift the rear seat base to pull the release wire.
Like most other owners report the interior can wear quite easily but other than that and being wrong wheel drive and not a proper mini not much to complain about.

My daughter currently runs a JCW and as said check the tyres they aren't cheap.

From vague memory it has been in twice under warranty for the timing chain rattling (both times replaced), check the sat nav works properly as hers had to be replaced and it's a one piece unit incorporating all the hi-fi. The BMW dealer had to special request the repair as it cost about 3 grand...

She also had some problems with interior trim fitment that took a couple of visits and parts to sort.

To be fair though BMW have fixed all the faults without question so any problems have hopefully been fixed under the care pack.

A friend here has an '05 Mini (not a JCW, just a Cooper S) - so far in the last 12 months it's needed:

A new fuel pump (£350, IIRC)
Suffered oil starvation despite being full of oil (£80 to diagnose that, apparently)
The timing chain started rattling (no idea on cost)

I think he got fed up of going back to the dealer every fortnight when something else dropped off after those three  ;D (Oh, he did go back again - brake discs & pads, another £350)

JCW does look nice, though..

It'll be remapped straight away pretty much if I get it, which I hope too as I've grown quite a liking to it  :y
