I have this vision of DLK phoning up the motor factors and having a conversation like;

"I need a cambelt kit"
"Certainly sir, what car?"
"Ah, I can't remember. Hang on, I'll post some pics on the internet and someone will tell me"

I fear for those guides given how badly bent and goosed those valves are!

Just goes to show that some people who try to leave such service time to save a bit of money, can end up paying out a small fortune at the end of the day.

My 3.2 allegedly had a Cambelt change some 20,000 miles ago, but even though I had a police print out, I didn't chance it.  Good job I did get it done, as I choose to get the water pump changed at the same time.  I don't think it had been renewed since the car was sold to the Police force originally! :o .

The blades were shall we say, slightly worn down   ::) .  When I saw them it reminded me of when Rimmer (Red Dwarf) was locked in his cell for 600 years with those stress balls to use  ;D

Avoid alphas then,ESP the twin sparks, they have a 30 second fuse past the recommended mileage before the belt sheds it's teeth and ..... caboom.

Myra my wife has managed to find out our car papers. In the service section it has had a toothed belt changed at 40,000 miles. My car only has 74,000 odd on the clock so I am ok for a while longer. I am glad about that started to get worried.
Thank you
Ray  :)
