Stripped the LSD out of the Manta ready for shipping to the USA. Recovery job to collect a broken down mini cab with a duff alternator

Any vibrations (as you increase revs), heavy breathing or evidence of oil leaks behind the fluid flywheel? ;)

The ones on the watercress line certainly generate quite a nasty smelling blue haze from the breather pipes. ;)

Attempted to remove the alternator on the 3.2 estate. Bagpipes came out easily, and so did the bottom alternator bolt. The top one however isn't as easy. I found it hard to get the ring spanner on the rear bolt to keep it still whilst undoing the front. I think I'll give it another go tomorrow! Trying to get it all ready for the paintshop and then the application of the livery!

Sometimes, to get mechanical strength, I solder in a cut-off piece of resistor leg through the board, then solder battery holder leg to that. Depends how its broken TBH :)

Just enough leg left on the holder to tin and plunge into the blob of solder on the board. it escapes me where I left my solder sucker to clean up the hole and remove the end of the leg so that'll have to do!  ;D

The Leyland O.600/O.680s are pretty robust motors, so thankfully, yours seem to be in good fettle ;)

Now, do they have:
a) sump-mounted 'in-line' type injection pumps?
b) sump-mounted strap-fix starter motors?
c) centrifugal oil filters?

Now ... what I did to our car today:

Changed the O/S track rod end, due to slight play. Piece of mind for a mere 12 bucks! ;)
Wheel alignment tomorrow.

Then refitted a door speaker cover ... after some 'anonymous' soul kicked it off! >:(

a) Microscopically check that the drive discs (2 pairs of 3 discs) don't have ANY fractures.
b) ^^^          Ditto           ^^^ castings that retain the strap pins to the sump are sound.
c) Might have some waxed canister liners here. Will have a rummage prior to Newent.

HTH :y
