And we were just saying yesterday about common failures on the DTi, including the crank pulley.

Is the damper in the pulley itself, and does it come off like a petrol one or TD one (a few small bolts, then the pulley comes off with a bit of persuation)

Alas no, the harmonic damper is bonded to the inner and outer metal parts. Both the silver DTi and the Estate DTi had new ones fitted about two years ago. Guess which one has a genuine pulley on it and which one has a Febi one.....  :-X

Removal is one bolt and some huge torque.

I changed the rubber damper between the diff and propshaft in the hope of curing the vibration I`ve been getting since the diff swap.

Well it was going for it's MOT on Friday anyway....

Yeh, pulley is easier on ramp as you need to lock the engine so need to remove the starter motor to lock it (unless you have the GM tool), also belt tensioner needs to be released from underneath as it's a pain to do it from above with the location of the aircon pipes
