Thought about washing it, following its holibobs last week.

Glad I didn't, as next door are having their outside woodwork sanded ready for painting. Dust city ;D

I might get the Albanians at Longford to do mine tomorrow. Desperately needs the bits of pigeon, bugs and Avgas washed off... Done almost 4,000 miles since its last bath :-[

It is indeed. Pulley next to the cam pulley. Its has been carefully set in the correct position, so cant see that being the problem.

Averaging 30 - 31mpg on my new commute without faffing around.

Not bad at all for a big AWD bus. :y

Topped up the screenwash on the Omega and Boxster - that was it for the day.  ;D
Will probably revisit Pierre tomorrow if my patience is feeling strong.
Refitted cambelt and other bits a couple of days ago and it wound over on the starter without any worrying noises.
No sign of it trying to start at all though.
Sprayed a bit of brake cleaner down the air intake and it fired up and ran for a few seconds.
Fault code suggests a problem with fuel supply, and it does indeed behave as though its not getting any fuel.
Cant imagine why it has decided to do this when the cambelt apparently jumped a few teeth while it was ticking over though.  ::) ???

I know its common rail but is the pump timed ?

I have read that the pump isnt timed, but there is a dot on the pulley to line up with a certain point on the engine, which I have done when refitting the cambelt.
I would love to scrap the little bastard, but tbh cant afford to replace it unless I sell the Boxster, and I would really like to avoid doing that for at least another year.

If its common rail then the pump is not timed, if its a clasic rotary or inline injection pump, then it is  :y
