Took the omega to the Swansea air show,  five up and performing excellently.  Great show too and can never tire of the excitement of the red arrows they surely must be the very best there is.

Drove it to my Immunisation and Uniform Appointment today.

Got two new holes in each arm and a nice suit only to come out to the car and find the NSR corner sitting low >:(

Fortunately, it pumped back up, so it isn't permanent, but the Airmatic is obviously faulty.

Tested for leaks with soapy water and could not quite decide where the leak is... Not from outside of the valve block, but possibly the NSR airbag or line.  :-\

Fortunately, it doesn't have full Airmatic, just the rears, and also fortunately, Mercedes did offer a couple of models of the Alabama Mumsybus without any Airmatic. So took some digging, and I have managed to locate a pair of rear springs for it.  8)

May also require a couple of bits and bobs to get them fitted, but they locate into exactly the same positions, so will be a permanent fix for significantly less than any individual Airmatic parts.

Presumably also something to either fool the computer into thinking it's still got airmatic, or to code it out of the ECU entirely?

Will start by pulling the fuse to the pump. The sensors can stay as they're probably linked to the xenons...

Are the airbags that expensive that they can't be replaced?  :-\

No alternative to genuine Merc ones?  ???

Genuine are about £400, Chinesey start a £70 a pair... But...

1. The airbag itself may not be the issue.

2. Chinesey things that are 8.5% of the original cost either won't last, won't fit, or both.

Worst case the springs will require £150 in fittings but it will fix the issue. Permanently.

If it isn't the bags, then it's the valve body... Circa £180, or the lines... Not expensive but you have to strip the car to replace them as they run internally. I don't have time to mess around chasing it as I get three days off this week, two next and then I am training until September and need a functioning car. Had I been at Gatwick still I could train it and not worry, but needs must.

There are alternatives

https://aerosus.co.uk/mercedes/r-class-w251.html

https://www.arnottindustries.com/products/mercedes-benz-air-suspension/r-class

Also - Back in 2016 AndyB paid to have Mercedes do the job. I don't think he was impressed by the customer service......... https://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=134169.0

P0304 on one of the astra estates  ::)
new plug didn't resolve it ,so fitted a new coil pack ,which did the trick  :)

interestingly .... if you try and buy it on-line to collect from Eurocarshyte they say the discount code doesn't apply to various parts  including the astra coil pack  ::)
as they had 3 in stock ,I just went down and paid and collected in person ,they did apply a discount ,similar to the on-line code .(about 40% off)
so worth checking if you try o order and get no discount  ;) Robbing ****s  >:(
