Topped up the oil on the Alabama Mumsybus and ordered the replacement springs having been let down by an egay seller who suddenly didn't have them. Credit where it's due though, he did instantly refund the money.

All told, the total cost to delete the rear airmatic is £500 including the internal spring compressor and correct (s/h) ARB. Springs are new Bilstein and the fittings all genuine MB and readily available.

Shocks will be replaced with the correct ones when they eventually fail. They are currently on back order, so can wait.

Went to the petrol station, filled up a jerry can with super, drove back under armed guard given the newly precious cargo.

Popped it into the ex plod, project  moneypit, Zeke, call him what you will.

And... After a bit of huffing and puffing... He runs!

Now to tidy up the wir8ng runs, finish the wheels, extinguish more fire... And get it tracked, tyred and MOTd....

Managed to change rear springs on step daughters C70 sopped the centre bolt rotating by using a dremel to grind a couple of flats onto the bolt head[why did they make the head so shallow and round not shaped for a spanner/socket? >:(]

Managed to not quite refit the oil cap when I topped it up the other day.  :-[

It’s finally stopped dripping everywhere. Too hot to flush it down with brake cleaner, so it'll just have to burn off. Will need to top it up again most likely  :-X

Oh and had a second spring order cancelled. By Larkspeed this time.

If I can't get them direct from Bilstein, they'll have to come from Mercedes... Which I might just do for the sake of simplicity  :-\

Noticed a lumpy tickover and strange feeling on the brake pedal on the Jag, thought it was a vacuum leak, I was right and luckily an easy fix a rubber pipe had split, however  5 minutes beside the bank of Loch Lomond and some Ducktape😎 that will do until I get a new pipe next week.

I will miss the ol' bus, it was a cracking, versatile, reliable car.

Bought by a breaker, given its age and possible low demand for bits, not sure if they will dismantle or just crush.  Given what they paid me for it, I'm assuming they will try to sell some bits....

Which reminds me DtB, I have a few odd bits left such as an air filter, some GM front pads, brake wear sensors, a single glow plug, blah blah.  And for reasons I can't grasp, a set of Astra-H/Zaf-B rear pads ;D.  If it is of any use to you to keep your fleet going, PM me an address and I'll bung it in a box and send to you.

No, no, no.  A jag forum will say it can only be fixed by a dealer.  Owners are only allowed to wash the car, and never, ever open the bonnet....

Dropped the wheels off for tyres. Got some new bolts for fitting the redone headlight sensors. These are exciting times we live in.
