Switch to petrol about 10 seconds before switching the engine off to get rid of the gas in the inlet trunking.

If its a single point mixer, is there not a possible case of a big back fire, blowing up the airbox?

Danny - have they installed a metal blow back on the airbox?

(basically a big metal flap on the airbox)
A friend of mine had a single point on his rangie 4.6 v8,had a new airbox every other week,not sure of make but was very problematic

here's the update, i shall first apologise for seriously knowing LESS than nothing about engines, the injectors (yes there are some :D i had a proper look) are strangely mounted right under the 2 big pipes at the front of the plenum, which a mate of mine says means it'll never run right cos the pipe will then be pretty much the length of the plenum, but it definately isnt conflicting with the MAF cos they're still pointing the correct way

they're gonna add the coolant feed T piece (or whatever else to do that job) that i wasnt happy about, and they're gonna have a look at anything else that might cause the rough idle

basically they're gonna put it right, and in the words of my pal, "no wonder it was so cheap, looks like you got your money's worth"

Well, good to know you essentially got the kit you paid for, even if it wasn't installed right first time. The vapouriser would have been getting a very poor coolant supply, especially at idle, with that setup so I think what they propose will help.

Make sure they plumb the feed to the vaporiser by removing the pipe from the coolant bridge to the HBV and then plumbing the vapouriser between the bridge and the HBV. This will give you a better coolant flow than using T pieces.

I'm surprised at where they mounted the injectors. There's plenty of room around the plenum to mount them, and the pipes to each cylinder can be kept equal length and much shorter then.

Anyway, I'm sure there are a few of us on here who would be willing and able to help you neaten it up once it's out of warranty.

its been a weight off my mind, i had a feel of the evaporator earlier tho, it's definately getting red hot

apart from the lumpy idle, it runs sweet as a nut

getting a new fuel gauge fitted on saturday too

noooooooo!!!

Thats no good, it needs a direct feed from the coolant bridge to the evaporator, and then from the evaporator to the HBV.

Its will always get hot coolant that way....

All works perfectly - no heater problems, no aircon problems- been converted for 20 months
