Not gambling, simply a prize draw. We had one on the other side (which I won!). No problems at all.
Seen them done for cars on other forums.

£10 a ticket, run it for say a month or 2 (or until donations reach a certain level) and then 1 lucky donor gets a Tech II! :)

Wheres the option for a raffle?

£10 a go, times roughly 500 peeps - thats 5 grand!!!

 ;)
.....Would that count as gambling, and would I need a licence?

Yes and yes, strictly speaking....

Check out this web page.
http://www.caradon.gov.uk/index.cfm?articleid=10436
and look in particular at the reference to Private Lotteries towards the bottom of the page.

I know its a different Council but the wording is quite generic....

As far as I can briefly compare, we can fulfill as per the first bullet point without any great difficulty.  No doubt some stronger legal minds could possibly interpret further as required....  If serially numbered tickets were issued on payment of a fee, then I forsee no substantial difference from tickets sold for a local garden fete or church fayre....

Would suggest a tentative enquiry with your local council to establish the relevant form needed (with fee, think its about a tenner) but would perhaps be tempted to be 'economical with the truth' as to how and where it will be conducted, unless pressed.   ;)

I think the Isuzu one only has a 10Mb card, which isn't big enough for the up to date Vauxhall software.  A new 32Mb card can be bought, but as its linear, not ATA, its hugely expensive.  I have details of where you can get a 32Mb card, but by time you've paid import duties, expect it to be over £200 (and thats with the strong pound!)

Personally I would pimp it out to Mark, I'm actually surprised he has not got one and with his network and the right agreement, both of you could benefit. Mark, what do you use currently?

OR

Sell it to the forum for premium members to book, members pay for courier and get a cheap diagnostic - imagine that, the first forum to have such a facility

I Think you should drive it up to Nottingham on Wednesday, and 'lend' it to Mark, just in case he needs it on my car, plus it gets me a ride to pick it up again as the father in law's Vectra needs a key programming and would like a check out / update.

As a bonus for you, you can then compare your lights to mine to decide if you need a new set.  :y

'Premium Members' do not exist here - we're all the same ;)

If it was to go to another location, either temporarily or long term, it would have to be to someone I trust, and to someone who knows how to use and interperate the results.

I have spoken to Marks_DTM_Calib, and am delighted to announce he will be looking after it for a while :D.  MDTM is in the right area to be able to cover many members, and is one of the few people I know who will be able to truely appreciate what the machine is saying during a diagnostic test (unlike many dealers, who believe the 'Replace ECU' that machine sometimes says!).

True, point taken! Good news then, lots of people happy - Shame you all live so far away from me, I could do with a diagnostic this weekend...

Probably not, don't know your postcode so couldn't be accurate. That was using maps.google but I'm sure I know plenty of shorter routes.....

Must get over to you and get the autobox updated.....  ::)

Edit.... Just modified the route to go via Warwick.... 40 Miles now!
