Taking a break
« on: 06 August 2007, 13:00:38 »

Going away for a bit, it's going to be a bit of a trek for the good old Veccy :)

Leaving sunny south west this morning, and then heading to Dundee - target by midnight. Phate321 is going to kindly put us up for the night, then in the morning we're going to sort out the cambelt issue, and hopefully I can do a cheeky oil change on the Veccy (it needs another!!).

Then, we're heading across to Fort William, where we're staying at one of the campsites on Loch Linhe.

Plans are to go up to Mallaig, and catch Ferry to Isle of Skye. Maybe a nights camping up there. Also want to visit Oban. I want to get across to Iona - and ideally shetland isles. Going to be away for a good 10 days, doing a LOT of miles, with an extremely loaded up Veccy Estate. Hoping to talk SWMBO into climbing Ben Nevis  ::)

I've pretty much sussed out where I can get LPG, so I should be able to do all of the journey on Gas - however I plan to keep at least half a tank of petrol on board - just in case I either a) Can't get gas, or b) develop probs running on gas.

I doubt I'll get internet access in between, so I doubt I'll be contactable. I've done my utmost to make sure all car parts promised have been posted, and I think I've contacted everyone individually by PM.

I'll bring back some pics from Sunny Scootland :)

I Love that part the world, struggle to do that now with the young uns!
Done that sort of hol 2-3 times, week or 2 after buying my first car, days after my wife passed her test!
Parent were right worried!
Loved it though, great baptism into driving!

What time you getting towards Dundee, you reckon?  I'm doing not a lot either today or tomorrow so could also meet up to assist/learn on the cambelt thing.
