DRIVER'S DOOR PROBLEM
« on: 28 April 2008, 12:54:31 »

Hi everyone, as you can see I'm a newbie. I just bought a 2.0 GLS automatic omega. Love driving it BUT, it has got a nasty problem which has come to light. Whilst driving along the road yesterday, I heard a kind of bang. Didn't know what it was until driving round a roundabout the driver's door flew open! Today, driving the car to work (a 38 mile journey) the door opened 6 times. After the first couple of times, I kind of got used to the idea it might happen so started driving with my left hand and holding the driver's door shut with my right. Obviously, this is not a safe situation to be in. Has anybody else had this problem or is this a unique thing? Incidentally, I tried locking the doors, but it still clicked and I could push the door open with my elbow. Any help or advice at all would be appreciated. Thanks.

hello zillabugs, welcome to the oof.you will get more of a response to your problem if you post it in the general help section,im not an expert but my initial thought is that the striker plate needs adjustment.if you fill in your details on car/location etc; it will save you being asked by everyone in the future  :y

Hi Zillabugs, welcome to the OOForum :y

Is yours a left hand drive or something, or do you drive round roundabouts the wrong way?

I'm confused, because when I drive round roundabouts the driver's door is on the inside and therefore wants to stay closed.
