Newbie with an ex-Plod Elite
« on: 11 June 2008, 14:04:49 »

Hello all!

Just picked up an ex-Plod Omega Elite for the princely sum of £460. 80k on the clock, plenty of service history, MoT to Nov etc.

Had never considered one before but have a trip lined-up to the Nurburgring in a couple of weeks and the 3.0 V6 with manual and RWD was just too tempting.

Has a few issues of course - namely it urgently needs a couple of tyres and a damn good clean inside. Pretty impressed with the drive. Could do with new bushes all round (to be expected) and there is a grinding from the top of the steering column when turning aggressively. Hoping that it's nothing too serious - doesn't seem to be anything mechanical/steering rack etc.

Anyway, I'm sure that I'll have lots of questions, so will do my best to post them in the correct section!

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi Andrew and welcome to the forum.
Are you sure its an Elite, the Police normally had very basic spec cars.

Log book says Elite - mind you, it also says automatic!

The spec is very basic. No toys other than a trip computer. Manual winders in the back, no aircon, cruise control etc. It does have traction control - but maybe this is standard? Fortunately the dash is intact, with only the radio missing.

Sounds like Police spec, the Elite had all the toys you could think of and more.

OK, that makes sense.

Still, for my purposes, the more weight saved, the better!

Hello and a warm welcome to you! :y

Your car certainly doesn't sound like the 1996 Elite I've owned in the past ;)
