Mark thinks my rear multiram isn't working properly as I describe the car as being gutless below 4500 RPM. I'm not sure, because I'm comparing with a 4.4 V8 in my BMW that pulls well from 800 RPM! However I'd still expect the Omega to be better than it is, being a 3.0. My dad's 330Ci feels loads better in normal town driving - not sure whether this is a VANOS engine.

So how do I test it? Seem to remember some thing where you start the engine, open the bonnet and quickly open the throttle while watching the front & rear flaps move under different conditions of throttle + RPM.

They ar eboth under ecu control. So assuming ecu isn't buggered (or its wiring, but that would bring on EML), test the vacuum and actuator.

Firstly, move actuator by hand - should more easily, and full stroke is about 1"

Secondly, unplug the vacuum hose on vacuum side of solenoid (bit the electrical connector plugs in) - should get a good hiss as vacuum sucks in last for about 1s.

Suck on the vacuum hose goingto actuator the other side of solenoid (short U shaped bit of hose) - actuator should move full stroke.

If the throttle is cable operated (as oposed to fly by wire) look at the multiram as you blip the throttle full open. It should move.

Or plug in Tech2 and use the 'Actuate multiram valves' feature....
