we have liftoff :D

Took it down to Vx - told me it would be ½ an hour. Came back and Tech still sat in my car. Sat in waiting room and offered Coffee,Tea etc (Free by the way).

Next time I looked Tech talking to the Service Manager - both looking puzzled. Asked receptionist if there was a problem - was told that the cruise was working but no indication was showing on the dash. I told her that there was no mention of an indication in the handbook. She went and spoke to them - then was told that the job was completed - Description of work carried out

"Re-configured ECU to allow Cruise Control to work, Cruise Control had no communication with Tech Machine due to missing part of ECU, put EMC on to re-configure Cruise Control Now works. Work done at customers request, no tell tale sigh on dash to show cruise working"

£42.30 + VAT -

Well all working great - bit confused as the mamager advised on a new display so it would show that it was working - daren't ask how much!!!!

Took her on a good ride - works like a dream - JOB WELL DONE!

Glad you got it working!! There is no indication on the dash that cruise is engaged, but then you would expect a dealer to know that :o

Well done pal - glad you got sorted out. Been watching cruise some stalks on ebay, just to get an idea of prices, and they're going for silly money when you can get a new one for not much more. I need the other bits for under the bonnet as well, but can worry about that later.
Once again -congrats!

I'd been watching them on eBay for a while but they all seemed to have the cruise buttons on the wiper stalk and I've got the computer controls on that. Mines pre-facelift so I needed the module as well and when I saw a module and lighting stalk with buttons on at 30 quid I just had to bid and got it for £32.

I needed a new lighting stalk anyway :-)

It is an auto and I know about the brake switch, I don't expect it to have the 4 pin one but I'm trying to pluck up the courage to bend these old bones and have a look :-)

Thanks for the info, I meant to mention those in case jonny2112 wasn't aware of the possibility.

Ah yes but, 95% of this price is a Tech at the stealers scratching his head, looking for somewhere to plug things in and wondering which way up he should be holding it. Where as you Jamie!!! Need i say more ;)

just thought I'd add this little rider

Checked car out today - cleaned mess on carpet left by the technician. Have also discovered that he has broken/thrown away the retraining strap for the fuse box cover, so now it just drops all the way down. Rang Vx to complain, they spoke to the tech - he said it wasn't there in the first place - lying toad. Ah well - cruise working fine.

Thanks to all once again

Worrying.  They really should know if there's an indication or not.

And a bit pricey compared to the £5.00 I paid the freindly mechanic whom enabled mine during his lunch break!

Still, glad it's done.  I love mine.  Use it all the time, whether in town or blasting down the centre lane of a motorway at 55mph!
