But the abs does...

Also TB ABS only stops the brakes locking up but with older cars that don't have ABS they can still pass so how does this work :-?
If you have ABS it has to be working to pass the MOT ;)

LSG 1 did you have a look at your sensors and plug at abs unit? Also for anyone, had a problem with cdc safe on my radio which I still have but I took my radio out and have basically had this problem since just after that, also my rear passengers side electric window has stopped working. Now is the abs tc speedo thing a coincidence or could I have disturbed something around the radio that could have give me the abs tc speedo problem and rear window problem? Also have lost power steering a couple of times when starting the car then it just starts working again within a minute

Hi paulr.
Quite a few vehicles now have a stereo system that is fed the road speed signal from the ABs sensors (or others).  This enables the stereo to increase in volume as the road speed/noise increases.  This was one of the main selling points on the advert for the Vectra a few years ago!  Since the speedo, cruise, TC and ABS use this signal, they all go down.  At the moment, many people are changing stereos, plugging the new (non compatible) ones in, and causing major problems.  When expensive scanners are plugged in to check for fault codes/live data, the electrical shorts caused by the new stereo are destroying the scanners (lives are appearing at the EOBD socket where they shouldn't be).  Quite a few garages now won't touch a car with a non genuine stereo system in it without it being disconnected first.

Mine only started after I had taken the cd player out and put it back in. I took it out to check the connection inbetween the 2 units (ccr2006 radio) as it was saying cdc safe

Hi Paulr
Pull that CD player out again and check all multiplugs are fully in.  Pull ecah one out and push back in until they click.  Make sure you don't miss any and no pins are pushed out as the plug is pushed in (if you know what I mean!).

Hi andy, the multi plugs should be in as they are attached  to the cage the radio goes into. Might be an idea to check the pins are straight though.
Car had its MOT today and luckily the abs tc lights didn't come on so very happy about that  ;D just gotto replace the abs ecu and radio now  :( Abs Unit (ECU) 9117171 £283.66 inc VAT CCR2006 9119984 £326.65 inc VAT
