Backup Alarm Battery Module

Right,

Going to tackle this today, going to make a How2 at the same time i think as well.

Now i know its located under the drivers side scuttle drain, but not too sure what it looks like? Someone posted up a piccy of its location some time ago but can't find it.

I plan just to disconnect it  ;)

Can anyone can give any pointers on what it looks like? - To disconnect does it have a loom connector i can just unplug or do wires have to be cut?  :-[

Lets just hope the meega isnt clever enough to know its missing and sound the horn for ya!

I think someone else just disconnected it?? I Hope its ok, otherwise i am going to have to order some batterys  :(

yes it's under driver's side scuttle, it's a small black box 4'' square or there abouts, one bolt on the top holding on and one connector that pulls off easily enough, would suggest removing the scutttle though as trying to lift and slide sounder out will probably brake the scuttle panel as I found out!!

I just took the one star screw out(under the wiper arm) reached in and diconnected the little b@stard. Its still there, just doesn't annoy me any more.

Might be an idea to wear ear plugs :o :o :o!!!! Mine went off when I had my head under the bonnet and it damn near deffened me ;D ;D!! Whacked my head on the bonnet too ::) ::)!!!

Mines a '98 and there's been no problems since I whipped it out ;) hope its the same for the face-lift!!

quick question guys, got the bonnet up and located the little git.... will unplugging it sound the siren? Steve says it will but did it also go off for you STNO, cruiser???

I only ask because my dad is on a conference call, and does not want to be annoyed by my siren going off

Yes.

Unless you read your manual on how to disconnect battery (same applies). ie, ignition on then off, and disconnect siren within 15s.

Yes.

Finally got the thing off  ;D

I was undoing the nut that held it on to get better access to disconnect it. It randomly went off when i was undoing the nut, silenced it then got it off. When i actually went to unplug it it started to sound but stoped almost instantly.

No more beep beep beep now  ;D

There was no need to worry about disconnecting the battery or anything. The small batteries inside were exhausted, thats why it was beeping. One pathetic squawk and its dead ;D
