I really should do mine, the whole lot - Pump, tensioners and belt. Just can't afford it at the mo what with running the Senator.  :(

Had a new belt on at 83k now at 98k, I suspect the pump was never changed!

Get all the kit from eBay and I'll pop over one weekend and do it all for you, as a thankyou for picking up my seats....

Cheers for that very kind offer, I do have the 2.2 running nice now. Regular oil changes have done wonders  :)

Cash is a real problem though, I don't like asking my dad for money. He already pays my uni house rent, and I have around £700 to last me until July. That has to pay for all food, petrol getting home to work on the Senator and house bills here.

That money also has to fix up the Senator for Europe, I get a final loan payment in late may but all of that MUST be saved to fund the Euro trip.

Must be honest, I'm not in much of a better financial position right now, although, my loan payments are reducing debt !

We should club together tunnie, buy a fleet of new shape Rover 200/400's with HGF, and flog them all for 500% profit ;D

There should be a market for them, they seam to fail a lot. Allthough a quick eBay there was not many 25's / 200's on spares and repair  :(

If only I had the skill/confidence....

I am sure you can do that ... you've done one already. Also the oil cooler on the V6! That ran like a sack of sh!t when we bought it back, was purring when sold  :y

Confidence comes naturally when you've done a few. Just undo whatever you see that's in the way, and worry about putting it back together afterwards ;)

There's more of a market for 400's/414/416 than anything else

I reckon there's an easy £500 a car to be made,

I'm going to do 2 a month through the better weather.

That first one is a nasty 8v - 16v models are much more lively.... and fetch more...

Thanks for remembering me Tunnie  ;D

Had a new water pump supplied and fitted today £88 :-/

I did tell the garage retail Vx £49+ but with TC I could get for £31 +vat so if the pattern one in stock (cos Vx have none) was any more just to wait and I'd supply it myself. (Bit of a wag cos I still have no TC, but price inc labour seems fair.) :y

Feel free to hijack the rest of the thread - it's all yours.... ;)

Is your car under warranty Chopsdad?

If not, would you be confident to have a go at some of these jobs yourself?

Waterpump is a peice of cake with the cambelt DVD (presuming it's a V6)

It's nearly as easy on the 4 pots, but involves removing the cambelt (easy with so much working space in the engine bay)

For the exhaust, please, please go for GM. Tin sh!t from ATS / KwikFit is just plain awful.

I noticed a BIG differnce in MPG and exhaust noise with the new GM stuff on, got about 3 mpg increase. This was because the mid section had a massive hole, and I was loosing power. (can't afford that with 2.2's  ;))

I had cat back GM for mine fitted for £220 ish

Paid £200 for the zorst (TC), picked it up from Vx dealer.... got some odd looks by some family's looking at Zafria's! - Me walking out 3 times with massive chunks of exhaust.

Took it to my local mechanic, gave him £20 notes or maybe £30 now, can't rightly remember .... but he fitted it for me  :y - I did not get an invoice if you know what I mean, but an exhaust is an exhaust!  :)

Btw no record of my HBV being changed, thought this was something that generally affected pre-facelifts?
