Advice Needed, Alarm Problem On Dads Car

My dad has an M plate omega and so the alarm is the infra red type.

Up until yesterday the car was in daily use, without any problems.

Yesterday morning he went to unlock the car and it would not open from the fob, he opened the car sat in the drivers seat and pointed the remote towards the red Dot on the sunroof panel and nothing.

I got a call from him yesterday saying the car is totally immobilised what should I do, so I talked him through the resync process over the phone, nothing happened.

On my way home from work I called in as I couldn't understand what was happening, tried the resync myself but again no joy.

Central Locking works, the Alarm button LED flashes and the internal lights work.

The process for this is to turn the key till the ignition lights appear and point the remote towards the red dot then the internal light should flash 3 times and the locks should open close. This however is not doing what it should.

The remote red led flashes so I know the batteries are ok in it.

Could anyone suggest a way to get this sorted.

I'd be interested if you work out what this is - my housemates vectra has the same problem although it doesn't get immobilised, we're just treated to the alarm going off everytime he opens it up first thing in the morning - it drives me nuts so god know what the neighbours think.

Having looked in the manual I cant see any fuse for the alarm.

One of my thoughts was to disconnect the battery and reconnect then try a resync.

Does anyone know where the alarm module is if it has one perhaps it needs reseating or something silly like that.

Regards the alarm is the alarm the Infra red type or frequency type , if frequency type it could be the remote coming unsynced someone on here suggested it could be a dry joint or something similar, I have the same problem with my alarm on my car so I have a couple of remotes that need to be programmed to mine asap.

I think its the infra-red type, however I'll check it as not 100% sure - its on an N plate.

I'm guessing there is no way to bypass the immobiliser but then again this will invalidate the insurance or will it.

Stuck for Ideas / options at the moment.

My mate had a similar problem with his Peugeot, turned out to be a slight leak in the sunroof & water got into the receiver.

Are you meaning the red pimple on the sunroof panel, If so I must admit I was tempted to remove this to have a look but the the misses called wanting to be picked up, shall be having a look first chance I get though.

Can anyone tell where the alarm module is as I may check that aswell while I'm at it.

That's the one, probably different on an Omega but worth a try if all else fails.

As check the fuse has been suggested can anyone confirm if there is one and where it would be, as I may have missed it.

If I can get 10 spare minutes tonight I will check the wiring diags.....the immobiliser can be wired out on these....

Is there a way to remove the Infra red type alarm as I'm thinking to upgrade it.

If I go the upgrade route would this be suitable:
