Hi all, i attempted to change front pads today, but i noticed a cable running into the top of the inner pad (i assume it was the wear sensor) and couldnt get it out of the hole. After much brute force, i abandoned ship as i couldnt get the little rascal out.

Do i need to buy two new ones and connnect them to the "plug" which clips to the inside of the wheel arch? (I followed the lead and saw a black tubular connector half way up the arch)

If i do need to buy them, any ideas how much they'll set me back?

You only need the one for a 2.2......mine was about £6-7 but that was on TC.....not sure of retail price sorry

Should add, always worth getting one.....as your about to find out....it will snap off fairly easily.

Yep thats the one....only the one on facelifts....2 on prefacelifts....and looks like 2 on mini facelifts

Same part for all cars, with exception on early 2.0l...

Mines a 99 V6 mini facelift last time I changed Discs and pads about 6 months ago sensors cost about £13 for 2 but they offered me a choice of 2 types .I think ceramic bit was different shape and colour also connector different shape. These were purchased from Southern Motor Factors and if I remember from previous time from Vauxhall worked out about 1/2 price.

I think you can buy them for about £4 each from Motaquip if that helps, it may be worth asking before spending Vx money.

Where from? I bought a couple recently for my Omega, & although I can't remember off the top of my head how much .... they weren't £20!

I seem to remember getting a pair from Halfrauds for just over a tenner - not bad I thought.  Had to order them though.

This is one of those classic Haynes 'unclip the wear sensor (with the back of your fingernail...)'  type jobs that turn out to be minor b@stards.   and I never did really figure out how to install the new one with the caliper fully assembled - seem to remember having to feed the sensor in with the caliper partly off if that makes sense.
