The HBV cost me about £30, the coolant bridge seals are pence, the coolant plate seal cost about £10, but while i was there i changed the oil cooler too which was £95.

To get the oil cooler plate out was a bit of a pain, I was hoping to get it out without removing the oil cooler, but I couldn't as the space is very tight in there... :y

Sounds like HBV if anything...  they rarely look faulty when removed, so don't be fooled by its looks......  easy to do with scuttle off..

Go for it!! :y

Big coolant loss is heater bypass valve as a rule.....although we seem to have had a few coolant plates recently....

My monies on HBV too.  If you've got some tools handy not too bad a job, otherwise its a £30 (trade?) part and about half an hour labour.

HBV is likely if its a big leak - take scuttle off and you should see it leak.

If the cooler plate has a hole, that will mean a big leak from the valley....

At that rate of loss, I doubt it's bridge seals

Most likely, is going to be HBV or a split hose at the back of the engine

After that, it will be in the valley area, possibly a hole in the cooler plate, but not all that common
