lack of power and bad idling!
« on: 30 July 2007, 15:16:23 »

I am new to the omega owners forum and i am currently on my 2nd 3.0 elite.
This one i have not had long, and i have had quite a few issues with it.

Recently i had an LPG conversion done, and when i picked it up it was idling rough in LPG but fine in petrol.
The chap from the LPG centre said there was oil on a couple of the plugs and that could cause a bad idle as LPG is more sensitive than petrol.  On the way home on the motorway, had no power issues and the LPG was smooth.

About 2 weeks later the car was running very rough and i took it to a garage and they said there was oil on the spark plugs and in the chamber, which they said was the rocker cover gasket.  I had all this repaired and it was running fine, then yesterday it started running very rough and there was a lack of power. Also after i had the car repaired it was still running rough on LPG, even with new plugs.
Could it be the HT leads gone?  As i have read the oil can burn them out.
Does anyone have any further ideas on what could be causing this?

Last question, is there anyone out there that can reccomend a good LPG garage in west london or essex, as i need to get the lumpy running looked at.

If anyone can help its much much appreciated.

Ben

yes Ben, oil in the plug wells can slowly cook HT leads to destruction as for LPG someone else can advise you

What spark plugs are installed - the 4 way electrode ones I believe arn't too good for LPG and the 2 electrode give better performance.

HT leads cured all my LPG running woes on my 2Ltr!  Problem i had occured only on LPG at first but then as the leads began to break down even more over time i noticed it on petrol too.  This all occured after i replaced my leaking cam seals, so i guess the oil may have cooked the leads, that and the fact they were 150k miles old!!  New leads gave better peformance,Mpg and a smile on my face.  :)

I'm not too sure where to get leads for the V6 as i had a 4 pot at the time and Halfrauds was advised as the best place for them!  I think a guy called MTEK on here does good leads for the V6??  :y MTEK are you there??

Hope this helps.

Cheers
Marc
