heavy steering

Hello I think I have another problem I have noticed that my steering seems to have become slightly heavy while driving its not excessive but just heavier than usual, the tyres look ok pressure wise and the fluid looks to be at the correct level. Any suggestions please  :)

first port of call would be to check the tire pressure even if the tire looks ok i would still get a PSI meter to check it or go to the garage and use the air pump meter to check.

If they are fine then I think your power steering Pump is on its way out or as you say you could just be alittle picky like i am with everything on your meega  :P

Well spotted there Timbuk  :) I was driving home and noticed I had lost the center section of the radio display and on checking also the cigarrette lighter was not working so I check the fuses and came across fuse 14 which is a picture of a heated seat 30A I this had blown  >:( I replaced the fuse and everything is now working  :) I thought it was going to be something really expensive  :'( .Thinking back the problem only occurded after I plugged a charger in to the lighter socket the other morning for someone  >:( I now have a feeling that the wiring is the wrong way around in the socket after having the center out to put the stereo in last week >:(
Anyway thanks for all the replies I hope in a way it may help someone out in the future  :y no way would I have thought to check a fuse for this problem I was thinking the pump had packed up. By the way does that mean the pump is electrical then and not belt driven?

Your right there now its working again its a hell of a lot different, not too noticeable as only been to work and back but would have been a nightmare on a run  :) Is it a belt driven pump or elecrtic driven I assume its electric

Driven from aux belt, but 6 cylinder Omegas have speed sensitive assistance, which electrically adjusts the amount of hydraulic assistance it gets, if that makes sense...

 :) oh yes that makes sense  ;) I had looked under the bonnet and it looks belt driven thats why I thought the pump had packed up, it never occured to me to check for a fuse  ;D I wonder how many people have been caught out by the blown fuse. Thanks for the help  :y

A few have fallen for that one ;)

The other is when the ABS unit packs up (not uncommon on post 98), same problem....
